Decorated Notebook - Geek is Chic!

I'm back again with my second altered notebook, this one for my youngest daughter's teacher as a end of year thanks! The notebook will be given with a note holder that I made for her in April (see here).

The notebook measures 5x8 and I created my own cover for the top of the pad by cutting heavy weight card stock. I decorated this cover using paper from Echo Park "Paper & Glue" collection. The cover is scored about a 1/4 inch from the top and taped down to the notepad using black electrical tape. This will allow the book cover to flip open. I covered the electrical tape with washi tape.

The notebook is personalized for the teacher, which was very poorly removed in editing.

The image for my altered notebook is Smarty Pants from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. For this image I fussy cut and did a bit of paper piecing with the book and desk. The library card is called "Overdue Library Card" along with the push pin and faux washi tape which are from a die set called "clip it die set" are from Your Next Stamp.

Thanks for having a look at my teacher's gifts for this year.

Happy crafting everyone.

Decorated Notebook - Nerd is the Word!

It's the final week of the kids in school and I am just wrapping up the teacher gifts. In addition to the note holder I made (here), each of my daughter's teachers will also be getting an altered notebook.

For the first note pad I cut a cover from heavy card stock to fit the top of the pad (5x8) and decorated it with paper and stickers from Simple Stories Smarty Pants collection. The cover was secured to the notepad with black electrical tape which I then covered with washi tape.

The image is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp and is also called "Smarty Pants". I wanted to create a chalkboard effect with this image so I heat embossed the image onto black cards stock. I then added a bit of white pigment ink around the image for the additional look of "chalk".

The notebook was personalized for the teacher (the name is was erased in editing).

The apple was also heat embossed using white powder onto white card stock. I then coloured the image with Copics and fussy cut it for a pop of colour.

The cluster to school supplies are all stickers from the Smarty Pants collection. I added clear acetate sheet to the glasses to create lenses.

I used the sketch from the current challenge over at Sassy Cheryl's digital stamp as my inspiration for the cover the book. If you look closely you should see the key elements from the sketch. This is also the last challenge on the Sassy Cheryl challenge blog. I have not yet won with her challenges, so I am crossing my fingers that this one is my lucky one!

Thanks for dropping in today.

CHALLENGES

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps: June Krafty Crop Challenge #3 Unconventional colours. Although Chalkboard is not unconventional for school I used an unconventional way of "colouring" my image with just the embossing. (Not sure if that counts)
