Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps October Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the KRAFTIN' KIMMIE STAMPS October release blog hop. Let's get comfy, grab your favourite drink and enjoy the hop.

This month has we've had the chance to work with so many amazing stamps sets. If you are not yet inspired to get working on your Christmas cards and other winter projects, you will be after this hop!

This week, our super sized previews were filled with a variety of winter and holiday images. We started our week off with TWO amazing sets from Becky Pearce called HAPPY WINTER DAYS and the sentiment set called CHRISTMAS CHEER!

Next up, was our frosty snowmen and friends, in the cool set by Cheryl Grant calls SNOW BUDDIES.

We then showcased a fun winter themed set from Annie Rodrigue, featuring our skilled snowboarding girl and not so skilled skier in the fun SNOW DAYS!

Finally we featured a set of darling critters having a little snow fun. This sweet set is designed by Emelie Goulet and is called ICE, ICE, BABY (sorry if you get that song stuck in your head...blame miss Kimmie for that one).

I am starting to plan and look at head at upcoming Christmas presents and gift ideas that will be needed. In my web search for inspiration, I found a few designs for treat boxes that I liked, however, I found the boxes a little small. I also wanted to add a few touches of my own.

I used the hockey playing squirrel from the fun (and one of my new favourites) ICE, ICE, BABY set, to create a treat box and card holder. The paper (also my new fav) is Echo Park Hello Winter.

This box took a bit of playing around to make this work. The treat portion on it's own was simple enough, however adding the note and gift card holder portion on the top required some thought. Most of the treat holder templates I found, the bottom box part was too small for my liking. This one is a nice size at 4 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches high (and deep).

The top portion of the box/card holder is 4 1/2 square. The entire base of the project (box and card holder) was created from one 12 x 12 sheet of cards stock.

This was my first time creating this style of box, so I will write up some details on my next go round to share with everyone.

The top card holder part of the project was taped down along the bottom and side to create a nice pocket for a gift card and a note for the recipient.
